The Department of Banking and Finance at Eastern Mediterranean University is delighted to announce the 9th International Conference on Banking and Finance Perspectives (ICBFP'2026). The conference will be held on 22-23 October 2026 in Famagusta, North Cyprus.
The theme of the conference is Digital Finance: Cryptocurrencies, Fintech and CBDCs.
This conference will serve as a platform and an excellent opportunity for researchers, academicians, practitioners, and doctoral students from across the globe to present their research, share experiences, and engage in discussions on new and challenging issues in banking and finance, as well as in wide multidisciplinary research areas.

Prof. Dr. Erhan Aslanoğlu
İstanbul Bilgi University, Türkiye.
Prof. Dr. Erhan Aslanoğlu is a faculty member in the Department of Economics at İstanbul Bilgi University, where he also serves as Director of the Financial Application Center and Advisor to the Rector. He received his BA and MSc in Economics from Middle East Technical University, an MA in Economics from the University of Reading (UK) as a Jean Monnet scholar, and his PhD in Economics from Marmara University. He served at Marmara University until 2015, becoming full Professor in 2011, and later at Piri Reis University, where he was Vice Rector (2015–2024) and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (2016–2019). His research focuses on macroeconomics, money and banking, and the Turkish and world economies. He has also contributed extensively to executive training programmes for the banking and capital markets sector, including those of the Banks Association of Turkey.
Prof. Dr. Anis Samet
American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Prof. Dr. Anis Samet is a Professor of Finance at the American University of Sharjah (AACSB accredited), where he holds the Bank of Sharjah Endowed Chair. He holds a PhD from HEC Montréal, Canada, and is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) with the Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) certificate from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Before joining AUS, he worked as a risk management advisor at the Quebec Pension Fund (CDPQ), one of the largest institutional investors in Canada. He has published in leading finance journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, Emerging Markets Review, Journal of Financial Research and Journal of International Money and Finance. His research interests include banking, sustainable finance and climate risk, international finance, liquidity, corporate governance, financial risk management, Islamic finance and financial econometrics. He has delivered training in banking, risk management, financial econometrics, portfolio management and corporate governance to several institutions.
Publication Opportunities
Conference Abstracts will be published in e-abstracts. Full papers will undergo a review process for publication in the Springer Proceedings in Business and Economics volume titled “Finance in a New Era: Innovations, Challenges and Opportunities”, which is indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
