Marc Goergen obtained his doctorate in Economics from the University of Oxford. Having served at prestigious universities such as Cardiff, Manchester, Reading, and Sheffield, Goergen has been holding the position of finance professor at Madrid IE University since 2018. In addition to being an Honorary Professor at Cardiff Business School, he is a board member of the International Corporate Governance Society (ICGS) and a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). He is also a former member of the Corporate Governance Committee of ICAEW.
Goergen's primary research areas include corporate finance and corporate governance. He has published numerous articles in top international academic journals, some of which have received recognition with the Best Paper Award. Renowned for his work in corporate governance and business finance, Goergen is the author of several monographs and book chapters. His textbook, "Corporate Governance: A Global Perspective," serves as a fundamental resource in many universities. Additionally, he has taken on editorial roles in reputable academic journals such as the Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, and British Journal of Management.
